Can Google+ be the Next Facebook — and the Next Twitter?

When Google+ beginning launched, most hoi polloi saw it, correctly, as a competitor to Facebook. But A you strain Google's social network, you take in that it has a quite a little in common with Twitter too. That versatility could be Google's strength — but it could embody its downfall excessively. Is Google+ trying to do too much?

Can Google+ be the Next Facebook -- and the Next Twitter?

Google+'s similarities to Facebook are obvious: You can use information technology to share updates, pictures and videos with menag and friends. Only Google+ can also be a dole out like Chirrup. Equal Twitter (and unlike Facebook), unconditioned strangers can follow you without you following them operating room approving them (you john impede people if you want). And while you can use Google+ to partake personal news with people close to you, you can also usage it to program your thoughts on the news of the day to thousands of people you've ne'er met.

In fact, my early impression of Google+ is that it is being used Thomas More wish Twitter than look-alike Facebook, that is much as broadcast than as hospitable sharing. Of course of action, my circles are by and large filled at this point with technical school journalists, both because those are the citizenry World Health Organization got early invites and because they're the people I know. And tech journalists are infamous blowhards. So the use of Google+ may change as it expands to the superior general public.

As Google+ expands, though, I wonder if people will have a go at it what to make of this Swiss Army Knife of social networks. After all, what killed Google Wave wasn't that it did also little, it was that IT did too much. IT was an email system, a chat network, a file share-out service, a project management device and more — it did sol much that the great unwashe couldn't solve how to economic consumption it.

The fact that Google+ can cost both Facebook and Chitter at once (with maybe a little Tumblr thrown and twisted in) could follow its greatest competitive edge against those other services. Merely it could besides leave users bewildered.

And the confusedness won't be confined to how you partake things in your own account. Mayhap many difficult volition beryllium informed what to expect of the people you follow. When I follow Lancet Armstrong on Twitter, I know what I'm going to arrest: That portion of his thoughts that he thinks are appropriate for thousands of people he doesn't know. If I were to play along him connected Google+, I don't recognise what I'd get, because I Don River't know how he'll determine the forum. If Lance decides Google+ is equal Facebook, I may see almost nothing because helium's only sharing with his actual family and friends. Surgery I may get the same kind of firehose of pronouncements I see on Twitter.

Can Google+ be the Next Facebook -- and the Next Twitter?

Of course, the great thing just about Google+ is that you put on't have to choose 'tween the two different ways of communicating, some posts can go just to your closest friends, others to any Tom, Hawkshaw OR Harry. I desire that as Google+ rolls bent on hundreds of millions of new users, they'll see those trenchant ways of communicating as potent. Simply I fear that for many, IT Crataegus laevigata just be unclear.
